Early in 2013, the Coastside Community Orchestra organized a promotional event to have musicians play at various locations around Half Moon Bay for its 30th anniversary. Three of the violin players, Leslie, Julie and Tim, decided to get together with Dave on guitar and play a few tunes for the event. Leslie, just returned from Ireland with some cool new tunes from Donegal, shared a couple of those tunes with the rest of us, and we threw in a couple bluegrass songs for our mini debut.
We all had such a great time playing that we decided to keep it up – and Fret & Fiddle was born. We continually add new tunes and songs to our repertoire and have been playing around town ever since. Please contact us if you'd like music for your next special event.
We love playing music with friends and can frequently be found playing outside at San Benito House, or in weekly sessions in Half Moon Bay.
Rob at Coastside Video and Liane at Liane's Lens have put together great videos of us playing traditional music around Half Moon Bay. Always fun for us to see. Check them out at coastsidevideo.com.
Here's the Fret and Fiddle HMB YouTube Channel, and a playlist.
Finally, a big thanks to all our friends who come to hang out with us, even when it's cold and foggy. We really appreciate the support.
